What is Brow Lamination and tinting ?
Brow lamination is a non-invasive, perm-like hair treatment that involves styling the eyebrow hair into the desired shape, making it look polished, fuller if desired and sleek. The process helps the eyebrow hair stay in place and helps unruly brows hold their shape. You can also elect to tint the brow hair for a fuller and more defined look.
How do I prepare for brow lamination and brow tinting?
Prior to your brow lamination or tinting appointment, we recommend the following:
- Avoid using exfoliants, retinoids, or AHAs on your face for 7 days before your brow lamination
- Avoid tweezing at least one week prior to your appointment (if you’re interested, we do offer the option to add on a brow wax to your lamination appointment)
- Please come to your appointment without any makeup on your face
Brow Lamination & tinting post care
- Don’t get your eyebrows wet for 24 hours (avoid the shower, sauna & bath)
- Don’t
- Don’t use oil based products for the first 24 hours. Then keep brows hydrated.
- Don’t apply heavy creams, makeup, or makeup remover to your brows for 24 hours
- Don’t sleep directly on your brows (we know, easier said than done for our stomach sleepers)
Brow Waxing Contraindications
Please let us know of any medications you are taking or skin products you are currently using. This will provide a safe and successful waxing experience.
If you are taking or have taken any of the medications listed below within the past three months please let us know before booking.
- Accutane (Acne medication)
- Adapalene (Acne medication)
- Alustra (Retin A)
- Antibiotics
- Avage (Tazorac – Acne medication)
- Avita (type of Retin A)
- Clindamycin
- Differin (Acne medication)
- Doxycycline
- Erythromycin
- Isotretinoin (like Accutane)
- Madifloxicine
- Metronidazole
- Minocycline
- Renova (Retin A)
- Tazarac (Acne medication)
- Tazarotene (like Tazorac)
- Tetracycline
- Tretinoin (like Retin A)
These medications may cause the skin to thin or to be extra sensitive to waxing. Thin, sensitive skin can lift with the wax. If you have taken Accutane within the last year it is not advised to wax for one year after you have stopped taking this medication.
The following products can cause the skin sensitivity. Please inform us prior to your appointment if you are using these products or receiving these services.
- Other Acne medications not listed above
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)
- Topical Antibiotics
- Retinol
- Salicylic Acid
- Exfoliants/Laser Peels/Microdermabrasion
If you are taking any other medications or products that have affected your skin and could possibly cause irritation with waxing , please speak with your dermatologist before booking a waxing service.
