Say goodbye to sun damage, melasma, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation with the Cosmelan Peel.
The Cosmelan Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment designed to reduce areas of skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation. The Cosmelan Peel decreases the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting certain enzymes, providing an even complexion.
A Cosmelan Peel can be used to improve the look of skin on the face and body. Dull skin, dry areas, dark spots, blemishes, and acne scars can be significantly reduced with the peel. Discoloration due to Melasma (Brown to gray patches over the bridge of the nose, cheeks, chin, and elsewhere on the face and body; often the result of hormonal changes) and Cholasma (similar to Melasma; referred to as the Mask of Pregnancy) can be eliminated with the Cosmelan Peel. In addition, the peel balances the skin’s oil production to improve acne.
The Cosmelan Peel is safe for all skin tones and ethnicities.
The Cosmelan Peel is a two-step process. The first part involves an in-office application of a stimulating mask; part two is the continued application of specific Cosmelan products from home. The initial treatment will take less an hour.
Step 1: The In-Office Mask
Step 2: The Home Care Regimen
Patients will notice a brighter complexion and hyperpigmentation fading within the first few weeks. The full benefits of a Cosmelan Peel can be seen within 28 days. The skin will be sensitive the first few weeks after treatment; prolonged sun exposure should be avoided and a full spectrum sunscreen worn at all times.
Cosmelan Peel side effects can include mild to moderate redness and discomfort. It is also common for the skin to feel tight and itchy.
The Cosmelan Peel is a moderate chemical treatment designed to decrease areas of hyperpigmentation, reducing the dark spots that occur due to sun exposure, acne, aging, and hormone fluctuation.
Cosmelan inhibits an enzyme called Tyrosinase, responsible for the manufacture of melanin. By slowing the melanin production, dark spots will soon fade.
The Cosmelan Peel can significantly improve the look and texture of the skin.
The Cosmelan Peel can be safely used on the entire face.
Is a Cosmelan Peel painful?
The Cosmelan Peel is not painful. Patients report a stinging sensation when the peel is applied, however this lasts for only a few minutes.
It will take less than half an hour to apply the Cosmelan Peel.
Two to three days after the treatment is applied, the skin will begin to flake and peel. For these first few days, the face may feel tight, itch, and be slightly red.
After about one week, you will see the skin beginning to look brighter and more even in tone.
Patients are normally ready to return to work in about a week or as soon as the peeling has passed.
As long as proper skin care is continued, the results from a Cosmelan Peel can last indefinitely.
The side effects of the treatment can include temporary redness and itching. More serious complications are rare but can include burning or scarring, particularly from excessive sun exposure or exercise immediately after the peel.
If you are pregnant, nursing, are experiencing active rosacea, or have been using Accutane in the last six months, the Cosmelan Peel should be postponed.
